It's annoying enough, so I shouldn't have to cringe.

It is a sad reality, but pop up ads on the internet are now a part of every day. However, if MSN doesn't get rid of that nasty toenail fungus pop up, I am going to switch to gmail for ALL my personal stuff. A pop up is annoying enough, it shouldn't make me cringe and click away screaming. Next time their media buyer calls me, I'll be sure to let them know.

If I knew then what I know now...

My boss is out today taking her daughter to what they both think will be where her daughter will embark on her college career. Watching this process has surprised me in that I am -- jealous. Not that I don't have a daughter with whom to go through this, which would be a more expected reaction. No, I am jealous of the 17 year old who gets to start college! However, I would only go back to being 17 and starting off to college with one caveat - I would only go back with the knowledge that I have now.

When discussing this with my sister, she challenged me by asking - "OK, knowing what you know now, what WOULD you do differently." (Geez. I thought I was being hypothetical.)

Here's a few thoughts on the matter:
1) I wouldn't assume everybody but me knew what they were doing
2) I wouldn't assume everybody was smarter than I was
3) I would have gone to a smaller school (somewhere where I didn't have to live in an apartment at age 18 and could have gotten to know professors better)
4) I would have gone to a school where the weather was better, and a bigger city.

The jury is still out as to whether or not I would have studied more, or majored in something else.

You?

The power of a family

My sis in law told me today that on the day we lost Mrf, the world's most awesome dude of a dog, my nephew brought him up out of the blue. (Mind you, the kid has met him 3 times in his life). "Mom, you remember Aunt Funky's dog Mrf?" One hour later - Mom got the e-mail from Aunt Funky with the news.

Coincidence? You decide. I find it very comforting as I like to think that Mrf touched a lot of people. (i.e. my nephew, the high school student at the vets who wasn't allowed to handly dogs, but they always let him handle Mrf, cuz he was so well behaved.) Mrf LOVED the vet. It was a place where everyone was there to pet him and give him treats!!! He also liked baths and the groomer for the same reason. What a great dog!

What a wild weekend

I highly doubt that any of my "fans" are even bothinging to log into this anymore. (NOTE TO SELF:Six months between posts is NOT a good way to keep an audience.)

Anyway, a few things have happened since then;

1) 2 trips to Wasington
2) A trip to San Diego
3) A mass exodus of co-workers from my small company
4) 3 months of work horror
5) Tennis lessons
6) A visit from almost ALL family members to CA to escape the MN winter
7) A family emergency - we are on the road to ok now - thanks! and
8) One scratched cornea - to top off the end of a long buisness trip.

The cornea incident really kind of sums up my week -
I have been travelling and didn't have all my contact lense stuff - I think I may not have used enough solution and part of my contact my have gotten hard and scratched up the cornea. I awoke this morning without the ability to open my eye - and a feeling that felt like I had a large rock in my eye. What irony that I spent nearly 10 hours at a hospital on Friday surrounded by doctors and nurses, only to find myself completly lost as to how to get some one to look at my eye - being the out of towner I am this weekend!!!

A trip to the wonderful urgent care diagnosed the problem, and opened up several more.
a) I can't wear contacts for a week
b) I have lost 3 pair of glasses in the last 8 months, so I don't have any. (Well, at least any with TWO lenses in them).
c) I have no idea where my prescription is to go to lense crafters and get new ones
d) What is the scoop with my new eye insurance - OH! I'll check on line
e) Ugh. no access to high speed internet - dial up for me!
f) Ugh again - no doctor on a Sunday at the store that takes my insurance. Lense crafters it is! I hope some one can drive me there tomorrow. This sure would go a long way in helping me drive my car home from the airport on Monday.

Can't wait to get back to work where I have some control. And I really miss Mr. Funky and our dog.
